Sugar Beet Schoolhouse is excited to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of our team, Wendy Zeldin. Wendy is originally from Columbus, Ohio, but has lived in Chicago for almost a decade. Previously she worked for Chicago Botanic Gardens where she managed a rooftop farm downtown and taught classes on urban agriculture to inner city teenagers. Wendy also has cooked and baked in multiple cafes and restaurants throughout the city, mainly focusing on vegan cuisine.
Wendy is joining Sugar Beet Schoolhouse as a lead Chef Educator. She will be teaching a new class called Let's Cook! Kids' Favorites, a cooking class for young chefs that focuses on creating classic kid favorites with a healthy twist. Young chefs will make Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese, Homemade Pizza with Fresh Veggies, and other delicious recipes that use fresh vegetables and seasonal ingredients
Let's Cook! Kids' Favorites will start January 13, 2017 from 4-5:30 PM and is for kids 6-11 years old. To learn more about this class and to register click here.
Wendy currently lives in Humboldt Park with her husband Chad, tiny sous chef Solomon, her cat Paris Hilton, and a 145 lb mastiff named Tank.
