We make a lot of smoothies at Sugar Beet Schoolhouse. We always have greek yogurt, frozen fruit and honey on hand for a quick snack that everyone loves. We might even make them on our Blender Bike!
Some kids don't like how "yogurty" our smoothies are at first because we use unsweetened yogurt. Check the labels on sweetened yogurt for the sugar content! It's really sweet! You can slowly change it over to unsweetened over time if you mix it with honey and fruit.
You might even add some spinach or dandelion greens like we do for our after school students. They might say "eeww" but when they taste it they are ok. :)
- 1 c. frozen strawberries
- 1/2 c. frozen peaches or bananas
- 1 c. plain yogurt
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 cup greens? try it...
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
Pour into 2 glasses and enjoy.
